Desanka is a Northern California native who grew up doing extensive amounts of musical theatre, choir, and Shakespeare. After moving to Los Angeles to attend the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts to study opera, she began to work in film as an actress. After high school, she attended Pepperdine University as a Vocal Performance Major, transitioning to Berklee College of Music as a Music Business Major, and recently attained her Master's of Arts Degree in Music Business, while pursuing her dreams as an actress and a recording artist.
When did you know you wanted to be a pop artist?
I have always been involved in music whether it was in musical theatre or opera, but never thought that I would become a solo musical artist until I was approached by a songwriter who asked me to sing one of the songs she wrote. That is what essentially catapulted me to where I am today.
What early steps did you take to launch your career?
Early steps that I took to launch my career included working hard, enjoying myself, and staying consistent. I learned a lot along the way, and I am proud of how far I have come.
How do you get through a creative funk?
I get through a creative funk by simply carrying on with my day. When I do that, I always gain random inspiration that immediately gets me back into the zone.
Where are you hoping your career will take you?
I am hoping to continue exercising my passions and doing what I love to do, and I am excited for wherever that may take me in my career.
